About Us

Camryn & Carlie

Camryn and Carlie are the original Battle Buddies and lead the course with the support and guidance of their parents. Camryn started Jiu Jitsu at 8 years old and Carlie started at the innocent age of 5. Both girls instantly found that being "small" or "a girl" did not interfere with their ability to gain the dominant position and finish their opponents with the submissions they learned. Jiu Jitsu has taught them self control, self confidence, temper management, respect for other and self respect.

FAQ

  • What is Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission.

  • What is a good age to start training?

Every child is different. Our Course caters on students who can focus on making self-defence and physical education fun. It will also teach you valuable life skills such as confidence, focus, discipline, mental strength, and self-control.

  • Do I need previous martial arts experience?

Not at all. If you have already trained in a different martial art that’s great. If you’re just started, or an Combat Veteran, you will always be welcome at The Battle Buddy Academy.

  • Is this Karate

No. BJJ has an emphasis on locks, chokes and submissions. Karate, is also a form of martial arts but it emphasizes on striking and less groundwork. Karate favors punches, kicks, demonstrations of strength while Jiu Jitsu does not allow striking and kicking.
